This station is ???? Pirate???
D0A and 1C4M: pirates from Donetsk Republic
Since May 29, a station signing as D0A (sometimes also as 1C4M) has been heard on 20 meters CW, operating from the so called “Republic of Donetsk”. Of course, these callsigns are fake and come from a pirate station.
Ukraine, besides the Crimea question, is facing a series of crises on all its national territory. Among these, there is also the one that developed in the city of Donetsk, where some separatist groups have declared the creation of the self proclaimed “Republic of Donetsk” on April 7, 2014, following the occupation of several government sites.
In this area, the current situation is extremely delicate, with many clashes and civilian casualties.
It must be pointed out that, at the time being, no country in the world recognises the “Popular Republic of Donetsk”.
Of course, all radio operations from this area, with a prefix not officially assigned to Ukraine, are to be considered Pirate activities.
