I

Operated as KP2/AG2J from January 31 to February 11, 2014 (4,040 QSOs).

All direct and bureau requests received as of  January 8, 2015 have been responded to.

I'll be QRV St. Croix from January 28 to February 10, 2015 operating holiday style on 160m to 10m CW only.

I was first licensed in 1959 at the age of 15. My first station consisted of a WW II surplus National HRO-M receiver and a home brew 35 Watt crystal controlled transmitter. The transmitter functioned only on 80 meters CW and my antenna was an 80m dipole.  I received my General Class License in 1960. Subsequently, I upgraded my transmitter to a surplus ARC-5 and then a Heathkit DX-20 with homebrew VFO. Since then I’ve had many equipment changes. I received my Extra Class license in 1983.
My interest in Amateur Radio led me to a career in electrical engineering. I graduated with a BSEE degree from the Newark College of Engineering in 1967 and an MSEE degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1971.  I worked in the space systems industry for 37 years holding executive positions in engineering and program management before retiring in 2004.
I live on Seven Mile Island (IOTA NA-111) in the borough of Avalon, New Jersey. I operate mostly CW on all bands from 80m to 6m. I enjoy working DX, contesting and DXpeditions. My station consists of an Elecraft K3 and an AL-80B modified for QSK operation.  Lot sizes on the island are small. However, I managed to erect two wire dipoles in parallel using a 10.1 MHz resonator on the 80m leg for operation on 80/40/30/15m.  In addition, I have a home brew multi-band beam with single feed for operation on 20/17/15/12/10/6m.
