Welcome to YOTA 2014

YOTA (Youngsters on the Air) is back!

This December brings exciting times for the RSGB as the UK is taking part in YOTA Month for the very first time. Many other countries across Europe will also be active with special YOTA callsigns.

YOTA stands for Youngsters on the Air – and the purpose of YOTA month will be to show young people the endless possibilities amateur radio has to offer and to get them on the air. The special event callsign G14YOTA and its regional variations will be active for 18 days in December. Various radio clubs from all over the United Kingdom will hold the Notice of Variation to use this special callsign for a day, or in some cases, two days.

It's projected that we will have 100's of youngsters speaking on the station over the month of December and the use of YOTA can hopefully encourage more people to join local radio clubs and sign up on the foundation course to get their own radio license.

In July – the GB1YOTA special event station was set up and run by the Camb Hams in Wolverhampton as part of the UK YOTA event. Over the two days of operation over 1000 contacts were made and the responses we received from amateurs nationally and internationally were warming and supportive of YOTA.

Throughout December, if you hear a YOTA callsign on the air then please make contact and have a chat with the young people that are on the air. The purpose of YOTA is not for a quick 59, 73, but to have a chat with the people about radio and the activities they’re doing that day.

Hello! I like DX'ing and the most I have operated by cw-mode. I want to learn it.

Some years ago I operated from 3A (3A/OH4MDY). I had 2000 qsos and I sent the qsl-cards via buro. It was spring time and the skip was very short. Only European stations. Now I have got back over a lot of cards. Not member, not interestied... So it was my last pedition that I will send qsl-cards automatically to everybody via buro.
23.-30.3.2005 I operated from Greenland using my callsign OX3RZ. QSL-info is on OX3RZ page. All qsl-cards sent via buro by the sponcor.
In Cambodia I have operated using my own call XU7MDY first time on 22.10.-3.11.2006. QSL-info is on XU7MDY page.
I have operated from 2009 autumn from Vietnam several times using my callsign XV2RZ. I had a short time also XV2MDY in the use. More information on XV2RZ screen.
I don't have any sponsors, so my peditions are very little operations. I like the most when I have got feedback "my new one".
It's the best in this hobby.
If you will hear on the band ssb and you need also cw or AM modes please ask, let's have those moeds also away from you list. Please 73 es cu agn on the bands,

This year we celebrating 35 years continuous activity of radioclub YO8KZA in the city of CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC (county BUCOVINA/Suceava), and 25 years since the founding of the "Liga Radioamatorilor Bucovineni" first democratic Association of radio amateurs YO after the fall of the comunist regime.
The radioamateurs from "Liga Radioamatorilor Bucovineni” Association - YO8KZA Team, celebrating this event by setting up a diploma which will be issued free of charge in electronic format. The Diploma is awarded to all romanian and foreign radio amateurs who in the period October 15 - December 30, 2014, will make connections with special callsign YP35KZA (in any band/mode) and ask for them.
You can get up to 3 free diplomas as follows:
BRONZE: -3 QSO's are needed in 3 different bands, minimum 2 of modes worked
SILVER: -4 QSO's are needed in 4 different bands, minimum 3 of modes worked
GOLD: -5 QSO's are needed in 5 different bands, minimum 4 of modes worked
The Diploma is granted under the same conditions for SWL. You must have application and extract log. Diplomas in electronic format are issued free of charge by sending a request to: yp35kza@yahoo.com . You can check the QSO in the winow below clublog.
The request will be sent until January 31, 2015 and will contain an extract of the log and email address at which you wish to receive the diploma. Diplomas are issued until January 31, 2015. Applications after January 31, 2015 will not be honored.

manageable and more user logical and friendly.

Best use Pay Pal as I may not be there in Russia at the time when your cards come in. When with PayPal, no need for your QSLs, a list of QSOs and your current address is all I need. All direct QSLs received after January 1, 2013 and having IRCs enclosed will be treated as buro requests and will be answered via your buro. Do not send IRCs after that date unless you are happy with the buro.
We are in the 21st century, is not that time to stop shifting papers (being that USD cash or IRCs) across borders? I do not need any cards anyway, although I will be happy to QSL if required.
3 . Legal frequency bands in Egypt:
1810-1850, 3500-3800, 7000-7100, 10100-10150, 14000-14350, 18068-18168, 21000-21450, 24890-24990, 28000-29450
30 and 80 meters are not allowed for everyday use in Egypt - emergency communications only (natural disasters etc or getting ready for them) + The Government may reconsider this later but have not done it yet. 6 meters and all VHF are totally NOT allowed;
4. No guest operations are allowed in Egypt: anyone using someone else's call-sign or station is violating the law and making all his QSOs not valid. The host also risks losing his license.
