CARLOS PAEZ, TI2CC
                     TI2FPS,TI2CAP,TI9C,TI9CC,TIORC,TE32CC,TE89R,4U1UP
                                                              BIOGRAPHY
During 1950-1959, when communication between the cities of San Isidro del General and San Jose (100 miles) was hard , using ham radio equipment was vital, especially during natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes. And even more so when conventional communication via telephone and telegraph failed.
Enthusiasm for ham radio awoke in my father Fernando Paez (TI2FPS), who started the hobby as a method of communication for his businesses  in the gas station industry and the  transport of livestock and produce. At the young age of 9, I made my first communication in the 40mts band with a Heathkit DX 40, a short wave receptor  and an antenna dipolo held by two bamboo poles. The first QSO took place during October 1959 with TI80CH,.
And so was the beginning of an activity that  has given me great satisfaction and peace throughout fifty years.  I have made great friends both locally and internationally.  My inclination has been towards DX and contests.  I have even been included in the  ARRL Honor Roll  with over 350 countries, specifically in Phone (SSB).
I have been part of the TI1C contest group, formed by my friend Carlos Fonseca (TI4CF) , with whom we have participated and won several international contests. In several occasions we have been accompanied by famous operators from the United States.  Also, as TI2CC I have obtained great international positions. I have been part of expeditions to Cocos Island (TI9CF, TI9CC, TI9C) as well as in site missions during the earthquakes in Nicaragua, Mexico and El Salvador.
Having retired as an Horticulture Engineer,  specializing in International Commerce, as of 2012, I have dedicated part of my time to my favorite hobby and I hope to enjoy more time with my radio friends as well as getting back into contests and expeditions.
I am constantly renovating my equipment and antennas, because I like to be heard well around the world.
QSL INFO: I AM SORRY BUT MANY ENVELOPES HAD AND HAVE BEEN STOLEN IN THE LOCAL POST OFFICE. I ANSWER THE QSL'S EVERY WEEK. I AM TRY THAT EVERYBODY GET MY QSL FREE. My QSL manager is DL4ME. He answers direct QSLs sent to Roland Stange, Gehlberger Str. 24, 98716 Geraberg, Germany. Please insert SASE and sufficient return postage (2 USD). He is taking IRCs too.
Fast and safe is to request QSLs online via our Online QSL Request System. Please do not send QSL cards via bureau or emails with QSO data anymore! Use the Online QSL Request System! This creates much less workload for us. We do not answer QSL cards which come via bureau!
All QSOs for 5H3EE/3 from Bongoyo Isl. - AF075 will be automatically confirmed via the bureau. If you need a QSL quickly, you can send your QSL direct to DL4ME.

Rack mounted beacon assembly

More Information
The NP2X/b beaconwas graciously supplied, and is owned by, Dave Pedersen, N7BHC /PJ4VHF and Paul, AA4ZZ.  Ultimately the beacon will be located to a higher location on a nearby mountain.
The purpose of the beacon is to act as an indicator for enhanced trans-oceanic ducting conditions. For an in-depth discussion of this phenomenon, please see
http://sites.google.com/site/n7bhcvhf/files
Dave has kindly constructed these beacons at his own expense and through various beacon “hosts”, such as myself, hopes to strategically place beacons like this around the Atlantic basin. (5T, CU, D4, EA8, St. Barts, V5,VP9 ZD7, ZD8 and ZD9) More information about Dave’s passion, please see his home page at:
http://sites.google.com/site/n7bhcvhf/Home
The beacon antenna is pointed at Eruope (direction = Portugal) as an indicator of favorable conditions to permit North America to Europe VHF QSOs. It is hoped that ultimately this beacon will be an indicator of conditions favorable for the first North America to Europe QSO (non-satellite or EME), which will qualify for the Brendon Trophy. For an interesting discussion on this, please see
