Hello Friend: My QTH is situated near Stellenbosch, about 60km east of Cape Town, on the south western tip of Africa.

My childhood interests in shortwave listening and electronics landed me into the South African Corps of Signals for military service during 1985-1986. (My basic training was at the SADF Army Intelligence School in Kimberley, further training at 5 Signal Regiment in Pretoria.) I was trained in Electronic Warfare, including Direction Finding, Interception, Jamming and CW (I learnt to write down CW code-groups at about 20 wpm). My SIGINT work showed me that HF-radio was very stimulating and a lot of fun, especially when operating state-of-the-art military/commercial radio equipment. In order to re-experience some of the magic and fun from my military days, I became a Ham in 2000.
Current equipment includes a TS-590S, microHam micro Keyer II, and a 6.5 meter tall aluminium vertical antenna mounted on a chimney that is fed with a SGC SG-237. For those who are interested, my computer setup:  Windows 8.1DXKeeper, WinWarbler, Meinberg NTP (Much better than Dimension 4), WSJT-X, JTAlert-X, JTMacros-X.
My main interests are HF DXing, DXCC, WAS, WAZ.
73, and good luck!
