About The Hills Amateur Radio Group Inc
On Friday 28th January 1983, thirty people met at the Kalamunda Hotel, in the downstairs function room, at the invitation of John VK6HQ and Des VK6SU, and as a result of that meeting the Hills Amateur Radio Group was formed. More details about this meeting, and our history since that inaugural meeting can be found on our website.
Nowadays, we meet twice a month, often featuring interesting speakers and a BBQ lunch, and we enjoy an active social community amongst our members. We participate in field days and contests, and run antenna construction and other technical workshops and afternoons. We invite all amateurs to consider joining HARG - see our website for more information.
About our Club QTH and the Perth Hills
Our club QTH is located at the Pax Hill Guide Hall, at the junction of Sanderson and Brady Roads, Lesmurdie, a pictureque area amongst the Perth Hills. We've called this location 'home' since 1989, thanks to the Pax Hill Girl Guides.
The Perth Hills are a part of the Darling Scarp, encompassing areas such as Mundaring and Kalamunda. The Darling Scarp, also referred to as the Darling Range or Darling Ranges, is a low escarpment running north-south to the east of the Swan Coastal Plain and Perth, Western Australia. It extends generally north of Bindoon, to the south of Pemberton, and easterly to include Mount Bakewell near York and Mount Saddleback near Boddington.
More information about the area can be found at http://www.perthhills.com.au/
