PLEASE DO NOT put St. Helena stamps or stamps from the country in which you are mailing on your SAE.

NO eQSL or LoTW.

For fantastic Custom QSL cards have a look at www.printed.it As used by ZD7VC and many other ZD7 Stations as well as DX stations (and noteably Big Dx-peditions) right around the world. If YOU want fantastic looking QSL cards that other Ham Operators would love to have gracing their shacks then you'll need to contact Alfio - IT9EJW and send him the pictures that you want on your card and let him design you a FANTASTIC QSL CARD - Guaranteed you won't be disappointed!!!!
Don't just take my word for it though - see what the reviews on www.eham.net have to say!! Look for IT9EJW QSL's.
If you've also been the recipient of Alfio's beautiful artwork perhaps you too might like to post a review on www.eham.net - thanks.

Islands on the Air (IOTA) - could all stations who live on Islands please consider putting your IOTA reference number on your QSL cards.
To those of us who wish to collect IOTA numbers for awards or otherwise it's annoying to find that this tiny bit of very important information is missing from the QSL card.
On the 16 January 2011 I worked KA5N who said that he'd never worked St. Helena Island (ZD7) in all of his 56 years of hamming. On the 3rd June 2012 I had the good fortune of having a 10 meter contact with I6TJD - Francesco who it turned out was 83 years old and had been hamming for 65 years and this was his first contact with St. Helena Island (ZD7).

I would be very interested to hear from Ham Operators who either have Solar installations to run their shack equipment or live off the grid or who work in the solar industry. I am in the process ofaccumulating equipment for an off grid solar installation. This Island is very remote and knowldge of the correct pieces of equipment needed is non existent except for what I can glean from the internet. I already have four 250w HITSanyo Solar panels with MC3 connectors. I need advice on the correct MPPT charge controller possibly one that won't cause RFI (if they do?).
Description:
Vmpp: 34.9V
Voc: 43.1V
impp 7.18A
I live on the Northern face of the Island on a sloping rock platau 3/4 of a mile inland and 1,000' ASL and have the sunniest location over all of the Island.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small.

Thank you

I prefer to reply to any incomming qsl card in person. Therefore I do not have a manager to assist me. All cards are hand written. It is rather slow so please be patient if your card does not arrive immediately.
I submit my log frequently to Lotw.
The TF3SG callsign was my father´s (TF3T)callsign for many years.  He changed his callsign to TF3T andlater TF1T around 1980.
The log of TF3SG and TF3T  fro 1979 to 1981 is now slowly being put on Lotw.

Iceland Listeni/ˈslənd/ (IcelandicÍslandIPA: [ˈislant])[4] is a Nordic European island country situated at the confluence of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.[5] The country has a population of about 320,000 and a total area of 103,000 km2 (40,000 sq mi), which makes it the most sparsely populated country in Europe.[6] The capital and largest city is Reykjavík,[7] with the surrounding areas in the southwestern region of the country being home to two-thirds of the country's population. Iceland is volcanically and geologically active. The interior consists mainly of a plateau characterised by sand and lava fields, mountains and glaciers, while many glacial rivers flow to the sea through the lowlands. Iceland is warmed by the Gulf Stream and has a temperate climate despite a high latitude just outside the Arctic Circle.
According to Landnámabók, the settlement of Iceland began in AD 874 when the chieftain Ingólfur Arnarsonbecame the first permanent Norse settler on the island.[8] Others had visited the island earlier and stayed over winter. Over the following centuries, Norsemen settled Iceland, bringing with them thralls of Gaelic origin. From 1262 to 1918, Iceland was part of the Norwegian and later the Danish monarchies. The country becameindependent in 1918 and a republic was declared in 1944. Until the 20th century, the Icelandic population relied largely on fishing and agriculture, and the country was one of the poorest and least developed in the world. Industrialisation of the fisheries and aid from the Marshall Plan brought prosperity in the years after World War II, and by the 1990s Iceland was one of the world's wealthiest countries. In 1994, Iceland became party to theEuropean Economic Area, which made it possible for the economy to diversify into economic and financial services.
Iceland has a free-market economy with relatively low corporate taxes compared to other OECD countries,[9] while maintaining a Nordic welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens.[10] In recent years, Iceland has become one of the wealthiest and most developed nations in the world. In 2011, it was ranked as the 14th most developed country in the world by the United Nations' Human Development Index,[3] and the fourth most productive country per capita.[11] In 2008, the nation's entire banking system systemically failed, resulting in substantial political unrest. Iceland ranks high in economic and political stability, though it is still in the process of recovering from the crisis.[12] Gender equality is highly valued in Iceland. In the Global Gender Gap Report 2012, Iceland holds the top spot, closely followed by Finland, Norway and Sweden.[13]
Icelandic culture is founded upon the nation's Norse heritage. Most Icelanders are descendants of Norse and Gaelic settlers. Icelandic, a North Germanic language, is descended from Old Norse and is closely related toFaroese and some West Norwegian dialects. The country's cultural heritage includes traditional Icelandic cuisine, poetry, and the medieval Icelanders' sagas. Among NATO members, Iceland has the smallest population and is the only one with no standing army.

Pse QSL via LoTW, the bureau or direct to my home QTH address.
Born in Z2-land (then called Rhodesia), I moved to South Africa in 1980, passing my radio exam and CW test in school at the age of 15 in 1983. I currently reside in Pretoria (capital city, QTH altitude around 1 550m).
I have a great passion for CW, CW contesting, State-side county-hunting and building HF antennas.
Update Nov 2012: Tower in the pic is down right now. So if you worked me in the past couple of months I was either using a hexbeam or Buddipole up at around 8 metres on a temporary mast, or a vertical for 40/80/160.
I'm currently constructing a new homebrew heavy duty tower which will be supporting a 4 element long-boom 6 metre monoband yagi, a Tennadyne T8 Log Periodic, a 3 element 30/40 metre yagi and a homebrew 80 metre linear loaded dipole. This means right now I'm generally tapping the MIG welder trigger a lot more than the CW paddle - I think it'll be worth the wait, but it's taking longer than I thought!
My other major hobby is wildlife photography, spending a large amount of my free time in Botswana, Namibia and Kruger National Park in South Africa. I run an Icom IC-7000 with a 108" whip (extendable to 210 inches) and an Icom AH-4 tuner in the 4X4.
Photo shows the XYL improving reception in Namibia by acting as a phased vertical array!
Postage stamp collecting started thanks to all the direct QSL cards received. Please feel free to send me any unwanted stamps along with your QSL cards - I'd greatly appreciate them!
73, de Roger

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is a country located at the southern tip of Africa. It is divided into nine provinces and has 2,798 kilometres (1,739 mi) of coastline.[9][10][11] To the north lie the neighbouring countries of NamibiaBotswana and Zimbabwe; to the east are Mozambique and Swaziland; while Lesotho is anenclave surrounded by South African territory.[12] South Africa is the 25th largest country in the world by area and the 24th most populous country with over 51 million people.
South Africa is a multi-ethnic nation and has diverse cultures and languages. Eleven official languages are recognised in the constitution.[11] Two of these languages are of European origin: English and Afrikaans, a language which originated mainly from Dutch that is spoken by the majority of white and Coloured South Africans. Though English is commonly used in public and commercial life, it is only the fifth most-spoken home language.[11]All ethnic and language groups have political representation in the country's constitutional democracy comprising aparliamentary republic; unlike most parliamentary republics, the positions of head of state and head of governmentare merged in a parliament-dependent President.
About 80% of the South African population is of black African ancestry,[4] divided among a variety of ethnic groups speaking different Bantu languages, nine of which have official status.[11] South Africa also contains the largest communities of European, Asian, and racially mixed ancestry in Africa.
South Africa is ranked as an upper-middle income economy by the World Bank.[13] It has the largest economy in Africa, and the 28th-largest in the world.[14] By purchasing power parity, South Africa has the 5th highest per capita income in Africa. It is considered a newly industrialised country. However, about a quarter of the population is unemployed[15] and lives on less than US $1.25 a day.[16]
