Past member of: Bishop Auckland Radio Amateurs Club (G4TTF), York Radio Club (Amateur) (G4YRC), Brimham Contest Group (G6MC).

Biography

My interest in radio was sparked at the age of 14 when I was in the Scouts. I quickly got my licence with the help of the Bishop Auckland Radio Amateurs Club and started communicating on various bands as much as I could. All through school I was active with wire antennas in my parents loft space. Much revision was skipped to play radio! I went on to graduate with a 2:1 from The University of York, where I read for an MEng. (Hons) in Radio Frequency Engineering. Again much time was spent playing radio rather than working...
I was heavily involved with the student radio station University Radio York when I was at York, as Chief Engineer, and was active with the local amateur radio club (G4YRC). Unfortunately efforts to start the University Radio Club again were unsuccessful, but that didn't stop me from being active on the air from my residence there.
In more recent times I have become more involved with Contesting and we have a small local group, The Vulture Squadron Contest Group M0VSQ/G9V. I also enjoy ragchewing on the HF bands, pretty much 100% CW.
Hope to see you on the air some time.
73, Iain M0PCB/AD5XI

It´s already time for the 5th edition of the Youngsters On The Air summer event.
In 2015 the youth radio camp will take place in Marina Di Massa (Toscana) in Italy.
In this week teams of young radio amateurs from several countries will be participating
in all kind of amateur radio activities.
Think about workshops, contesting and ARDF, we will try to show many aspects of theradio hobby.
Off course you will also get the chance to learn about other cultures,
in the famous intercultural evening you will
get the chance to try food and drinks from all participating countries.
As we go to Italy, we will also show you the country and
Italian traditions. This is just a little bit about what we are going to do in this event.
It will be a great experience for all participants which they will never forget.
To get a better feeling about this, have a look at the gallery from previous events.

Youngsters On The Air is an official camp supported

by the IARU Region 1.The Stations

This year there will be 3 stations ready for use by the youngsters.

PLEASE AVOID DUPES
calling me every time you hear me: keep in mind that your dupe QSO steals the chance to work a new one to an other ham. Thanks!
PLEASE CHECK MY LOG:
My callsign has been used by pirates many times, so please perform a free log search before sending me a direct QSL:
https://secure.clublog.org/logsearch/3A2MW (no login required).
If you find a discrepancy, please send me an email, but NOT the QSL.
MY QSL POLICY:
- all my logs are in the ARRL Logbook of The World (the QSL route I prefer)
- I answer to any QSL card via Bureau
- if you want my QSL card direct, please enclose a SAE and 2$; if not, I will answer via Bureau
- I upload my logs to eQSL.cc (AG) as a courtesy, but I do not use eQSLs.
3A STATIONS ARE NEVER STRONG OVERSEAS, BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
- Monaco is the smallest Country in the UN, limited by the sea (one side) and France belonging mountains the other side (see image)
- the maximum legal power is only 100w
- antennas have been banned by a 1988 law (Loi 1122 22/12/1988) see link, but small or stealth verticals are tolerated.
SKEDS:
I have a life besides ham radio, so skeds are for those who can keep them.
