I got my General class license in the summer of 2011 and recently passed my Extra in June 2012. My first HF radio is a Kenwood TS-450S which allowed me to start getting my feet wet. I've been having a lot of fun with it and making lots of contacts so far. The antenna I'm using is an 80m off-center fed dipole at about 45 feet.
My HF interests largely center around "utility" traffic--military, marine and aircraft transmissions as well as beacons and other similar stuff. I'm also interested in digital modes, so I've been playing with those quite a bit. I have a definite preference for CW and RTTY for their historic aspects, but I'm also really enjoying modes like Olivia that are fairly robust in the face of significant noise.
In non-HF areas, I've been pretty active lately on IRLP using a Kenwood TM-V71A dual band radio and a Diamond X300A antenna to hit the local node. I've also been playing with Echolink to connect to repeaters in other countries with great success.
I've actually just started hosting a simplex IRLP node on 9109 (channel 9 of the Win System) for WL7LP, and that's been a lot of fun as well as a bit of an education.  I would encourage anyone interested to join us on IRLP 9109 for the Alaska Morning Net, weekdays at 9am Alaska Time (1700 UTC).
Many thanks to Steve Floyd, W4YHD for his encouragement helping me to go from short wave listening to amateur radio.
