Born and bred in Sheffield, England. After leaving school, I took up the position of apprentice electrician at one of the (then) many steelworks in Sheffield, qualifying in 1979.
I was "bullied" into Ham radio by my brother Steve - G0JJV,but I have enjoyed every minute of it since. I was first licenced in 1990 as G7HTG, I then sat the 12wpm morse test to gain my class "A" call sign G0OUD.
My main interests are CW, homebrew and QRP, they all seem to meld together rather well.
We moved to the Isle of Man in November 2006, as the wife missed the family and the Island too much.(I quite like it here too!)
The better half is now licensed as 2D0JEA, and the grandson, Tom, is also licensed as 2D0TWM.
The shack is VERY busy now with 3 Hams in the house, Jeanie is a keen HF operator, and Tom is into psk31. It might not have been such a good idea to encourage them!

QSL is via the Bureau ( preferably), LOTW is fine, and eQSL if you really must. Direct is awkward as the Post Office here no longer accepts IRC's.
SWL reports welcome, and QSL cards exchanged.

FRANCE - Special event -

For the 29th annual meeting of the French CW Society, the Union Francaise des Telegraphistes UFT, which will be held in Aubagne, Région Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur, South France, the callsign TM29UFT, will be aired between April 6th to 20th.

HF bands and even more, for this CW only operation.

All the QSO will be confirmed by the French REF bureau . SWL QSL cards should go also via the French REF bureau. Please avoid other French so so bureaus.

After the operation and before qsl'ing, each one will be able to check his QSO's on the UFT website (www.uft.net)

Those who however would have a direct card, should ask it not before July 15th, to Gerard, F6ICG , (QRZ.Com address is correct ) . In such a case, don't forget SAE and 1 valid IRC or 2$.

Have fun

73 Maurice, F5NQL ( one of the operators gang)

When in Aubagne, don't forget to visit Christmas crib figures of Provence factories.

Aubagne is also the seat of the French Foreign Legion. Don't miss a visit to the Legion Museum, Route de Thuilliere.

Pleasure to share my life-long hobby with you. Enjoy every contact. Thanks much for the call.
I 'v been an engineer my entire career of 32+ years working on LOS ANGELES, OHIO, and VIRGINIA Class submarines. Praise God for the steady work and my fine family (XYL and three kids).
Started as SWL at the age of 10, graduated to CB radio at age 12 and then made jump to Novice in 1976; much thanks to my older brother Charles. Have maintained my love for CW throughout the years. I find moderate speed CW (13-15 wpm) very relaxing. It occupies your mind just enough so that other concerns melt away. Also best mode for DX and QRP as my station is modest; just a rotary dipole at 45ft on 20m and a long wire on 40, 80 &160.
I respond to ALL QSL cardseither direct or via buro. No SASE is required. I also check QRZ.com regularly to confirm QSOs
Pleasure to have worked. Please call again
God Bless, Mike
