personal:
I was born in 1958 in Eastern Germany and got my first Ham Radio license at the age of 16 in March 1975. My first callsign was DM3PFF. Until 1990, the year of the reunification of Eastern- and Western Germany, I never had the chance to experience the other side of the pile ups. Nevertheless, it took up to 2003 before I participated in my first DXpedition to Kerkennah Island, Tunisia TS7N. In the following years I attended more or less large DXpeditions every year. As you can see in my callsign - CW is my favored mode and I especially like beautiful CW pile ups.
I am member of the Bavarian Contest Club and operate at most major DX contests in the M/M category at the contest station DR1A in Goch, near the Dutch border. Of course I'm interested in DXing itself. My last "All Time New One" was K9W on Wake Island. Currently my last missing entities are P5 North Korea and KH5 Palmyra & Jarvis Isl.
By the way - most people call me by my nickname "Paul" rather than using the real name.

Born in the British Virgin Islands (B.V.I.), I am the sixth of nine siblings. After frequent visits to the U.S.A., I decided to reside on the East Coast, where I was employed for 11.5 years as a technical manager for a major graphic arts company in the state of Rhode Island.
I returned back home to the B.V.I. in 1984 and established George Business Machines, which was a company that sold and serviced office equipment including photo copiers, typewriters, fax machines, postage machines, and other business equipment and supplies.
Shortly after returning home from the U.S.A., I developed an interest in ham radio and obtained the necessary license to operate on frequency. My other interests include horseback riding, playing tennis, and farming.
I am a born again Christian who is happily married with five children--two boys and three girls. I enjoy spending quality time with my XYL and the harmonics.
When you are planning your next vacation, why not discover nature's little secret-- the British Virgin Islands.  Josiah's Bay Bed and Breakfast, located in Tortola, BVI is a new establishment, which was developed with the ham fraternity in mind.  For more information, please visit our website athttp://www.josiahsbaybedandbreakfast.com

Erik & I will be operating from PJ5 - Sint Eustatius beginning 5Feb14. Operation will be all bands, mostly CW with some SSB and RTTY. We will be using callsigns PJ5/K5WE, PJ5/N5WR, and during the ARRL International CW Contest PJ5W. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW shortly after we return home. QSL PJ5/N5WR to N5WR. QSL PJ5/K5WE and PJ5W to K5WE.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update on our trip to Saint Barthelemy - We made a total of 12,766 QSO's in a little less than 6 days operating time. 402 QSO's were made on SSB, 363 QSO's were made on RTTY, all the rest were on CW. 19 QSO's were made on 6 meters with a barefoot radio and a 3 element yagi on a ladder up about 10 feet. We had a Hexbeam for 10-20 meters which performed great, a SVDA vertical for 17 meters, and various wire verticals and dipoles for the other bands. Two radios were used, each with 500 watt amps. We stayed at a villa on a hilltop in the Colombier area of St. Barths. Saint Barthelemy is a very picturesque French island, with narrow winding mountain roads and beautiful scenery. We enjoyed our time there very much. Thanks to everyone for all the QSO's. Also thanks to my son Erik, N5WR, for sharing this adventure with me. We will be ordering QSL cards from UX5UO. It will be a few weeks before we have cards and can begin the QSLing. Hpe to CU from the next one. 73. Jeff - K5WE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FJ/K5WE logs were uploaded to LoTW today 13Jun13.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My son Erik & I will be active from FJ - Saint Barthelemy as FJ/K5WE and FJ/N5WR beginning 3Jun13. Operation will be all bands, mostly CW, maybe some RTTY and SSB. We will check 6 meters for openings using a small yagi, but our emphasis will be CW on the HF bands. QSL to home callsigns. Local QTH is Colombier, Grid Square is FK87.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I operated from KP2, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, as KP2/K5WE from 18Sept12 until 26Sep12. Logged 9,326 QSOs. One day was spent on RTTY (675 QSOs), all the rest on CW. Thanks for the QSOs. QSL via home call. All KP2/K5WE QSOs uploaded to LOTW on 27Jan13.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erik & I operated from Bonaire as PJ4/K5WE and PJ4/N5WR from 3Jul2011 to 11Jul2011. QSL via home calls.
