Apply for a new Vanity callsign...

Hi,

My name is Johan, born in '74, married and proud father of 2 lovely kids aged 6 and 3.
Licensed since '93, but inactive as from 2003 (the year I moved to a new QTH) until early 2013.

Mainly active on CW

Currently worked 332DXCC, so QSL is no longer my top priority.
However, if you do wish to QSL, it's is OK via buro - eQSL.cc - LoTW - direct, but please avoid sending via the buro.
If you do send direct I'll reply the same way if you supply a SAE and sufficient postage.

Preferred way of QSL is LOTW or EQSL

Regards,
Johan - ON7DU

About Me:

I was licensed in 1975 and I operate on a variety of bands and modes but mainly CW at the moment.
The home QTH is in a residential area with lots of noise from Switched Mode Power Supplies, PLT and Plasma TVs. That's all part of the challenge. I tend to use a 400 Hz filter on CW so it helps if you net accurately.
The photo shows me operating as SP/GI4DOH in Krakow - Poland in October 2013. Equipment is Elecraft KX3 with a Palm Radio Pico Paddle (needs a light touch) and a G4TPH Magnetic Loop antenna.

Equipment:

Elecraft K3, KPA500 Amp, KAT500 ATU, Microham MicroKeyer II (QRO)
Elecraft KX3, WinKeyer II (QRP)

Antennas:

6m 3 element Yagi at 30 feet
10/12/15/17/20m G3TPW CobWebb at 30 feet
10m Moxon at 10 feet
30m Dipole
40/80/160m Butternut HF2V with 160m kit, top loading and 70 short radials

Namibia DXpedition 2012:

I was in Namibia from 18 to 26 March 2012 primarily to operate in the CQ WW SSB WPX contest with GI8MIV, GI4FUM, DM3BJ and V51B using the call V55B.
My V5/GI4DOH log has been uploaded to LoTW and Club Log. Paper QSL cards have been mailed to all direct QSLs. All other calls have been sent a QSL card via the bureau

Special Calls:

  • GI5I - Contest call
  • GR4DOH - Celebrating Royal Wedding 29 April 2011 to 9 May 2011
  • GQ4DOH - Celebrating Queen's Diamond Jubilee 5 May 2012 to 10 June 2012
