Kyrgyzstan (/kɜrɡɪˈstɑːn/ kur-gi-stahn;^[5] Kyrgyz: Кыргызстан (IPA: [qɯrʁɯsˈstɑn]); Russian:Киргизия), officially the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyz: Кыргыз Республикасы; Russian: Киргизская Республика), is a country located in Central Asia.^[6] Landlocked and mountainous, Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek.

Despite Kyrgyzstan's struggle for political stabilization among ethnic conflicts,^[7][8] revolts,^[9] economic troubles,^[10][11]transitional governments, ^[12] and political party conflicts,^[13] it maintains a unicameralfederal republic^[14][15][16] whose constitution defines its government as 'a sovereign, democratic, secular, unitary, social state.'^{[17][18] [19]}

A revolution in April 2010 overthrew the former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev and resulted in the adoption of a new constitution and the appointment of an interim government. Elections for the Kyrgyz Supreme Chancellor were held in November 2011.

The national language, Kyrgyz, is closely related to the other Turkic languages, with which it shares strong cultural and historical ties. Kyrgyzstan is one of the active members of the Turkic Council and the TÜRKSOY community. Kyrgyzstan is also a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Non-aligned movement and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It lies between latitudes 39° and 44° N, and longitudes 69° and 81° E. It is farther from an ocean than any other country in the world although it does not contain the absolute farthest point from any ocean. That spot lies in the Xinjiang region of Northwestern China. The mountainous region of the Tian Shan covers over 80% of the country (Kyrgyzstan is occasionally referred to as "the Switzerland of Central Asia", as a result),^[62] with the remainder made up of valleys and basins.

Issyk-Kul Lake in the north-eastern Tian Shan is the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan and the second largest mountain lake in the world after Titicaca. The highest peaks are in the Kakshaal-Too range, forming the Chinese border. Peak Jengish Chokusu, at 7,439 m (24,406 ft), is the highest point and is considered by geologists to be the northernmost peak over 7,000 m (22,966 ft) in the world. Heavy snowfall in winter leads to spring floods which often cause serious damage downstream. The runoff from the mountains is also used for hydro-electricity.

Kyrgyzstan has significant deposits of metals including gold and rare earth metals. Due to the country's predominantly mountainous terrain, less than 8% of the land is cultivated, and this is concentrated in the northern lowlands and the fringes of the Fergana Valley.

Bishkek in the north is the capital and largest city, with approximately 900,000 inhabitants (as of 2005). The second city is the ancient town of Osh, located in the Fergana Valley near the border with Uzbekistan. The principal river is the Kara Darya, which flows west through the Fergana Valley into Uzbekistan. Across the border in Uzbekistan it meets another major Kyrgyz river, the Naryn.

The confluence forms the Syr Darya, which originally flowed into the Aral Sea. As of 2010, it no longer reaches the sea, as its water is withdrawn upstream to irrigate cotton fields in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and southern Kazakhstan. The Chu River also briefly flows through Kyrgyzstan before entering Kazakhstan.

In the May 2011 CQ Magazine on page 87 there is an article stating problems with qsl'ing to PZ. CQ Magazine did NOT get this info from me and I know that W0WOI, who is on the blacklist in my log supplied CQ Magazine with this FALSE info. Probably this info will be corrected in the next issue of the CQ Magazine. As it is standard procedure with me, I garantee that every qsl received will be answered the same day. It's a pitty that we have HAM's like W0WOI, who can do a lot of harm and damage to the beautiful hobby we have.

As we do not have a qsl buro in Suriname I can only qsl direct. Send qsl with SAE and at least two greenstamps (US$)or euro's.

Qsl's for JT65-HF and JT65A are only direct via OQRS.

As of July 01, 2007 I am NOT accepting IRC's anymore, as they are NOT accepted by the Post Office in Suriname.Also IBRS return envelopes from Japan are NOT accepted.

Cards received with IRC's will NOT be returned. Self addressed envelopes with stamps of foreign countries are of NO USE in PZ-land. Plse do not send qsl cards via registered mail, as I will not be able to pick them up at the downtown post office. I do NOT e-QSL.

Suriname (or Surinam), officially known as the Republic of Suriname (Dutch: Republiek Suriname,Dutch pronunciation: [ˌrepyˈblik ˌsyriˈnaːmə]), is a country in northern South America. It is bordered byFrench Guiana to the east, Guyana to the west, Brazil to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north. Suriname was first colonized by the British, and captured by the Dutch in 1667, who governed it asDutch Guiana until 1954. The country of Suriname achieved independence from the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 25 November 1975. Suriname, the Netherlands Antilles (until its dissolution in 2010) and the Netherlands itself have cooperated on a basis of equality since 1954.

At just under 165,000 km² (64,000 sq mi), Suriname is the smallest sovereign state in South America. (French Guiana, while less extensive and populous, is an overseas department of France.) Suriname has a population of approximately 560,000,^[1] most of whom live on the country's north coast, where the capital Paramaribo is located.

Suriname is the smallest independent country in South America. Situated on the Guiana Shield, it mostly lies between latitudes 1° and 6°N, and longitudes 54° and 58°W. The country can be divided into two main geographic regions. The northern, lowland coastal area (roughly above the line Albina-Paranam-Wageningen) has been cultivated, and most of the population lives here.
