I am pleased to introduce my self as an active ham radio operator from New Delhi. My fascination with radio started when I was little over 14years. Like many of us, I also became a ham radio operator through Short-Wave Listening route. I got my ham radio license some time in 1970 or 71, I do not exactly remember. I started coming on the air with a home made 3 band/ 5 tubes/100 watts CW transmitter, VFO controlled. With this transmitter, I had an old "National-HRO" receiver. I used this combination for few years and later I converted this CW transmitter into an AM transmitter by adding plate-modulation. This AM mode worked very well and had many enjoyable QSOs with local as well as DX stations. Later I converted this AM transmitter into SSB transmitter, and also by this time I had modified my HRO receiver using new miniature radio valves. After having used this SSB transmitter+modified HRO receiver for many years, I managed to buy my first commercial ham gear kit, this was "Heathkits" famous HW101. It was real fun and I enjoyed very much assembling this kit and also operating it on the air. In between, I kept doing experiments with antennas and electronic circuits. At one time I was very active on digital modes like amtor, pactor, packet radio using PK232MBX radio modem. I started operating on RTTY as well with an old RTTY machine called model 15. This was around in 1980, if I remember correctly. Had made a terminal unit(TU) with few radio vales and two transistor AFSK. I really enjoyed working many dx stations with this old and simple RTTY setup.

I operate mostly on 20m band, on CW and SSB, more on CW in fact. I am also active on 40m and 80m bands. On lower bands,
I work on CW mode most of the times. On 40m, my favorite spot is near 7.012, because I have found that there is very little
or no BC QRM near this freq. On upper HF bands, like 20,15,10m. I have home made 2 ele. Quad. On 40m, I use a dipole, and for 80m, I often work with a long wire antenna with an auto tuner. I some time use my home made linear amplifier which I made by using 2x 4-400A tubes. I am an avid experimenter and love to play around with electronic circuits. I recently home made two 20m SSB/CW/30watts radios, these radios are working well.
73 my friends and I look forward to meet you on the air soon. My mobile phone number is 09810528768.
Below are 2 pictures of my home made 20m SSB/CW/ transcivers and few portable home made arrangements.also few pictures of my radio shack etc.

TF2JBMoved again to TF3 call area on August 1, 2012
Apply for a new Vanity callsign...

I was first licensed on January 11, 1974 and issued the call sign TF3JB; license No. 80 in Iceland. From January 2007 to July 2012 I was QRV as TF2JB, but on August 1, 2012 I moved back to Reykjavík and am TF3JB again. Privileges include all bands, all emission types and full RF power.
I have been a member of our national association, Icelandic Radio Amateurs (Í.R.A.) more or less since 1973. For 40 years I have had the opportunity to participate in various activities of this great hobby and recently finished serving as the association's president (2009-2013).
I was granted a reciprocal license by the FCC when we lived in the United States (1990-1995). During that time I attended The Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) in NYC and The University of New Haven (UNH) in CT. Helga María (my XYL) also earned her academic degrees during that time. We both loved the time in the States.
A QSL card is sure via bureau or direct. If you QSL direct, kindly include a self-addressed envelope with an IRC or 2 USD. I do not use E-QSL’s. My grid square is HP94bc. The grid square for TF3JB/1, when QRV from the summer residence in Grímsnes municipality in south Iceland, is HP94ma.

Photo 7 - The photograph was taken on December 17, 2010 to commemorate that 30 years had passed since this group of hams set a TF record in the 1980 CQ WW DX Phone Contest from the club station of the national association, TF3IRA, in the Multi Operator Single Transmitter category. Total score was 2,778,117 points. This record was finally broken by TF3W - after 32 years - in the 2012 CQ WW DX Phone Contest.
The photograph was taken in the current operating room of TF3IRA and replicates the photo taken of the group in the actual contest in 1980 by TF3AC (sk). With the 1980 photo (in the frame) there is also a photocopy of CQ Magazine's cover page of the contest coverage in the 1981 September issue of the magazine.

My home RDA is KI-01
Sometimes (on summer week-ends) I work as UA4NE /p from DX RDA districts of my region: KI-14, KI-21, KI-33, KI-23 etc.
All UA4NE /p RDA QSO-s are confirm by eQSL in RST or comments field.
My rig TS-2000, PWR 100 watts, sometimes I work QRP.
My usually portable DX-antenna for 20M band is 4 el. array (2-el. one-wave active on-phase dipoles one over one) on 20-meter high mast, gain 11 dBi / 19º in two opposite directions. It turns by moving ends of wires. If space isn't enough, I pick up a Jungle Job on 12-meter high mast, it turns by pulling the rope.
On first photo - my 20-meter portable antenna mast during assembly. It takes about 2 hours.
On next photos - monster 8-el. array on this mast (with 2-el. reflector and 2-el. director, gain 14 dBi / 20º in one direction).
