Celebrating 40 years of my Ham radio activity!
Number 73 in my call represents the year of 1973 when I started with my non-stop Ham radio activity! And the most importantly: I STILL ENJOY IT! Special call sign (S573DX) will be active for the period of two months (June and July 2013). I will try to be active as much as possible on all HF bands and modes.
QSL info: QSL is OK via bureau or directly to my home call S57DX. I will answer to all requests! If you send your card directly please enclose SAE (self addressed envelope) with sufficient contribution for postage expenses (valid IRC or 2 GS). All requests without covering postage expenses will be answered via bureau.
I am sorry but no eQSL and Lotw! Please do not send me eQSL's and Lotw requests!
Brief history:
I pass my first ham radio exam on July 10. 1973 and just three days later I made my very first QSO. It was on 3,5 MHz CW and I still remember who was on other side! At that time I was 16 years old, frightened butcurious boy and my heart beat was near 200 at the time of first contact. My first and only elmer was Otto, then YU3TUQ, now S51CQ. I am still very grateful to him, he gaveme all the basics! The same year I discovered my contest and DX fashion! The contest bug beat me and is still there!
Later on I got my first personal call sign YU3TUX (1978) and YU3BQ (1984). Over the years I was very active with club call signs YU3EIJ and YT3T as well. When Slovenia separated from Yugoslavia we changed country prefix and in 1992 I became S57DX, the call sign which I am still using now.
What can I say now? After 40 years and more than a half of million QSO's later I still enjoy it very much. Sometimes I catch myself being so excited as I was on the first day forty years ago! Ham radio really gave me a lot of satisfaction and it's my only and life time hobby. Actualy for me it's not only a hobby, it's a life style! And I hope to be active for few more decades to come!
CU on the bands! 73 de Slavko S57DX
