Angola, officially the Republic of Angola (PortugueseRepública de Angolapronounced: [ʁɨˈpublikɐ dɨ ɐ̃ˈɡɔla];[5]KikongoKimbunduUmbunduRepubilika ya Ngola), is a country in Southern Africa bordered by Namibia on the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the north, and Zambia on the east; its west coast is on the Atlantic Ocean with Luanda as its capital city. The exclave province of Cabinda has borders with the Republic of the Congoand the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Portuguese were present in some—mostly coastal—points of the territory of what is now Angola, from the 16th to the 19th century, interacting in diverse ways with the peoples that lived there. In the 19th century they slowly and hesitantly began to establish themselves in the interior. Angola as a Portuguese colony encompassing the present territory was not established before the end of the 19th century, and "effective occupation", as required by theBerlin Conference (1884) was achieved only by the 1920s. Independence was achieved in 1975, after a protracted liberation war. After independence, Angola was the scene of an intense civil war from 1975 to 2002. The country has vast mineral and petroleum reserves, and its economy has on average grown at a two-digit pace since the 1990s, especially since the end of the civil war. In spite of this, standards of living remain low for the majority of the population, and life expectancy and infant mortality rates in Angola are among the worst-ranked in the world.[6]Angola is considered to be economically disparate, with the majority of the nation's wealth concentrated in a disproportionately small sector of the population.

I was first licensed in 1976 with my present call sign while waiting for my C.B. license to arrive. After my WB5UDA ticket came, my wife's arrived and it was WB5WDA, something like 1372 calls apart
I managed the loan of a nice Heathkit HW-16 and my brother (WA5JIX) helped me set up the station with an inverted Vee for 15, and 40 meters. My first QSO was with WN5UMJ in Houston, Texas. I progressed thru the license ranks at the FCC office but still came home after each visit to my HW16 but by that time I owned the 16 and had a matching VFO for it. Later I purchased one of the first Kenwood TS 520S on the market and shortly after put up my first real antenna which was a 2 element Quad at 75'. The ham bands were really hot at that time and I shortly aquired my DXCC, WAS, and WAS-CW.
I helped get the DFW/FT. Worth 34/94 Swap Net going on the prime Ft. Worth 2 meter repeater and ran the net for several years. I also worked with The General Dynamics Radio Club, the KiloCycle Club of Fort Worth and the Arlington Amateur Radio Club, helping/giving the test sessions. For 3 years I was the ARRL Official Observer Coordinator for North Central Texas. In 1994 the employees of the company I worked for organized an employee radio club. At that time the company, Menasco Aerosystems, was the free world's largest producer of aircraft landing gear. Our call sign was issued by the FCC on March 11, 1994 and I became trustee of the club call KC5NXA(look it up on QRZ.com) The club held several "on the air special events" on company property which included the 50th anniversary of the company, an open house, and a worked-all-states endeaverThe club has been active for 19 years now but Menasco, Ft Worth was shut down, I retired and moved onto 30 acres just outside of Nemo, Texas. Population 49
I love old trucks and own a 1929 Ford Roadster-Pickup, a 1946 Willys CJ2 Jeep, a 1947 Willys Pickup and a 2 wheel drive 1979 DJ5 Jeep which is really great out here in the pasture land.
This is my 5th airplane and probably my last. I started flying July 4th, 1989 and now have over 440 hours in single engine land aircraft
My Cessna 150. 1965 model, 100 hp, 100 mph, 4.5 gph
This is Patty Cake, If she can she will share my beer with me. My Beer !
This is my retirement home sitting in the middle of 30 acres
My nearest neighbor is at the far left end and is my oldest daughter
I really don't remember how old I am but I still climb towers, fly my Cessna 150 and bottle feed my baby goats, go for long daily walks with my Brittany and drink a beer now and then. After 49 years I'm still married to my first wife, Violet, WB5WDA, have 3 children, 6 grand children and my first greatgrand daughter. At the present time my "rig" is my old Kenwood 520s and a Hi-Gain Ta33 Jr. on top of my 45' tower
work only CW and want to be a CW operator when I grow up. I work a lot of QRP
I went QRT for 15 years and just got back on Jan. 02, 2013 thanks to KB5QFU who has been my "partner in crime" all these many years. ---- Mike, did I write too much ? ? k
