Echo about the discoveries and space conquest made by the radio amateurs had spread through the whole world. The reverberation of the works reached Lithuania as well. Occasionally in Lithuania radio amateurs used to install different devices indoors and tried to implement their ideas.
On 1918 when Germans ruled in Lithuania, B. Talutis ( LY1X later on ) who lived in Siauliai at that time, received an old accumulator and exchanged it to crystal at German field telephonists. He manufactured induction-coil and tried to receive wave by releasing sparks. Since it was difficult to analyze his works by himself, B. Talutis invited an assistant who worked together with the same enthusiasm. In spring, 1918, the first attempts to contact through the whole city of Siauliai were made. The attempts succeeded well but B. Talutis until now is not aware what kind of wave was that; he supposes it was about 300 meters.
