Gibraltar ( /dʒɨˈbrɒltər/) is a British overseas territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsulaat the entrance of the Mediterranean. It has an area of 6.8 square kilometres (2.6 sq mi) and a northern border with Andalusia, Spain. The Rock of Gibraltar is the major landmark of the region. At its foot is the densely populated city area, home to almost 30,000 Gibraltarians and other nationalities.^[4]

An Anglo-Dutch force captured Gibraltar from Spain in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession. The territory was subsequently ceded to Britain "in perpetuity" under the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. It was an important base for the Royal Navy; today its economy is based largely on tourism, online gaming, financial services, and shipping.^[5][6]

The sovereignty of Gibraltar is a major point of contention in Anglo-Spanish relations as Spain asserts a claim to the territory.^[6] Gibraltarians rejected proposals for Spanish sovereignty in a 1967 referendum and again in 2002. Under the Gibraltar constitution of 2006, Gibraltar governs its own affairs, though some powers, such as defence and foreign relations, remain the responsibility of the UK Government.

Rodrigues (French: îles Rodrigues), named after the Portuguese explorer Dom Diogo Rodrigues, is a semi-autonomous island part of the Republic of Mauritius located in the Indian Ocean, about 650 kilometres (400 mi) east of Mauritius.^[3] It is part of the Mascarene Islands which include Mauritius, Cargados Carajos shoals and the French island Réunion, other nearby island countries and territories include Tromelin, Agaléga, Comoros,Mayotte and the Seychelles to the far north-west. The area of Rodrigues is 108 km².^[3] It is of volcanic origin surrounded by coral reef, and just off its coast lie some tiny uninhabited islands and islets. The island used to be the tenth district of Mauritius before it gained autonomous status in 2001 and is governed by the Rodrigues Regional Assembly. The capital of the island is Port Mathurin.

As of 2011, the island's population was about 37,922. Its inhabitants are Mauritian citizens.^[2] English is the official language of the island,^[1] though people also speak French, Indian languages and some oriental languages are also spoken, the lingua franca is Rodriguan Creole.^[4] The main religion is Roman Catholicismwith small minorities of other religions. Most of the inhabitants are of mixed African and French descent. Its economy is based mainly on fishing, farming, handicraft and a developing tourism sector.^[

The Special Call, P3EU, is to mark the occasion of Cyprus taking up, for the first time,

the Presidency of the EU for six months from 1st July 2012 to 31st December 2012.

Cyprus joined the European Community on 1st May 2004, it then went on to adopt the Euro

Currency on 1st January 2008, Paphos District has marked these occassions with a Special

Call sign.To follow on with this tradition, P3EU will be used during the six month period

of the Presidency by members of The Paphos District of the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society.
