Cyprus Listeni/ˈsprəs/ (GreekΚύπροςKýprosIPA: [ˈcipɾos]TurkishKıbrısIPA: [ˈkɯbɾɯs]), officially theRepublic of Cyprus (GreekΚυπριακή ΔημοκρατίαKypriakī́ DīmokratíaIPA: [cipɾiaˈci ðimokɾaˈtia]Turkish:Kıbrıs CumhuriyetiIPA: [ˈkɯbɾɯs dʒumhuɾijeˈti]), is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea,[5][6] east of Greece, south of Turkey, west of SyriaLebanon, northwest of Israel and north of Egypt. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and the Republic of Cyprus is a member state of the European Union.
The earliest known human activity on the island dates back to around the 10th millennium BC. Archaeological remains from this period include the well-preserved Neolithic village of Khirokitia, which has been declared aWorld Heritage Site with an "enhanced protection" status in the event of armed conflict[7] by UNESCO, along with the archaeological sites of Paphos and the Painted Churches of the Troodos Region. Cyprus is home to some of the oldest water wells in the world.[8]
Cyprus was settled by Mycenean Greeks in two waves in the 2nd millennium BC. As a strategic location in the Middle East,[9][10][11][12] it was subsequently occupied by several major powers, including the empires of theAssyriansEgyptians, and Persians, from whom the island was seized in 333 BC by Alexander the Great. Subsequent rule by Ptolemaic Egypt, the Roman Empire, the Byzantines, Arab caliphates for a short period, the French Lusignan dynasty, and the Venetians, was followed by the Ottoman conquest in 1571. It remained under Ottoman control for over three centuries. Cyprus was placed under British administration in 1878 until it was granted independence in 1960,[13] becoming a member of the Commonwealth the following year.
In 1974, seven years after the intercommunal violence between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots,[14] an attempted coup d'état by Greek Cypriot nationalists[15][16] and elements of the Greek military junta[17] with the aim of achieving enosis (union of the island with Greece) took place.[17] Turkey used this as a pretext to invadethe northern portion of the island. Turkish forces remained after a cease-fire, resulting in the partition of the island; an objective of Turkey since 1955.[17] The intercommunal violence and subsequent Turkish invasion led to the displacement of over 150,000 Greek Cypriots[18][19] and 50,000 Turkish Cypriots,[20] and the establishment of a separate Turkish Cypriots political entity in the north. These events and the resulting political situation are matters of ongoing dispute.
The Republic of Cyprus has de jure[21] sovereignty over the island of Cyprus and its surrounding waters, except for the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, administered as Sovereign Base Areas. However, the Republic of Cyprus is de facto partitioned into two main parts; the area under the effective control of the Republic, comprising about 59% of the island's area, and the Turkish-controlled area in the north,[22] calling itself theTurkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recognised only by Turkey, covering about 36% of the island's area. The international community considers the North as occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Cyprus is the third most populous island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of its most popular tourist destinations.[23] An advanced,[24] high-income economy with a very high Human Development Index,[25][26] the Republic of Cyprus was a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement until it joined the European Union on 1 May 2004.[27][28] On 1 January 2008, the Republic of Cyprus joined the Eurozone.

Dear friends, I want to be apologized if sometimes I can not hear (detect) the weak signals. The main reason is that in the camp I have a lot of electrical noise from radars, generators, radiojams and other QRM.
Here is the level of the noise (QRM): 80m-S9 plus 20db, 20m-S9, 15m-S8, 10m-S7, 6m-S5 to S6
Unfortunately I have a lot of QRM from stations calling me without listening. Please do not call me when I give report to other station or giving a part of some callsign with question mark - always listen before transmitting. Thanks very much in advance!

My equipment is FT897D, antenna tunner AT2000, Spiderbeam 10, 15, 20m tribander, Inv. Vee for 80 and 160m, 6el. monoband yagi for 6m and intend to install slooper for 40m.

Oman (Listeni/ˈmɑːn/ oh-maanArabicعمان‎ ʻUmān), officially called the Sultanate of Oman (Arabicسلطنة عُمانSalṭanat ʻUmān), is an Arab state in southwest Asia on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the southwest. The coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the southeast and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The Madha and Musandam enclaves are surrounded by the UAE on their land borders, with the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman forming Musandam's coastal boundaries.
For a period,[when?] Oman was a moderate regional power, formerly having a sultanate extending across the Strait of Hormuz to Iran, and modern day Pakistan, and far south to Zanzibar [6] on the coast of south-east Africa. Over time,[when?] as its power declined, the sultanate came under heavy influence from the United Kingdom, though Oman was never formally part of the British Empire, or a British protectorate. Oman has long-standing military and political ties with the United Kingdom and the United States, although it maintains an independent foreign policy.[7]
Oman is an absolute monarchy in which the Sultan of Oman exercises ultimate authority but its parliament has some legislative and oversight powers.[8] In November 2010, the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) listed Oman, from among 135 countries worldwide, as the nation most-improved during the preceding 40 years.[9] According to international indices, Oman is one of the most developed and stable countries in theArab world.[10]

San Marino, officially the Republic of San Marino[1][6] (Listeni/sæn məˈrn/ san-mə-ree-noh; Italian: Repubblica di San Marino) and also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino[6] (Italian: Serenissima Repubblica di San Marino), is an enclaved microstate surrounded by Italy, situated on the Italian Peninsula on the north-eastern side of the Apennine Mountains. Its size is just over 61 km2 (24 sq mi) with an estimated population of over 30,000. Its capital is the City of San Marino. San Marino has the smallest population of all the members of theCouncil of Europe.
San Marino claims to be the oldest surviving sovereign state and constitutional republic in the world, as the continuation of the monastic community founded on 3 September 301, by stonecutter Marinus of Rab. Legend has it that Marinus left Rab, then the Roman colony of Arba, in 257 when the future emperor, Diocletian, issued a decree calling for the reconstruction of the city walls of Rimini, which had been destroyed by Liburnian pirates.
The constitution of San Marino, enacted in 1600, is considered by some to be the world's oldest writtenconstitution still in effect.[7] However, San Marino has no formal constitution, but instead is governed by the Leges Statutae Republicae Sancti Marini, a series of six books, written in Latin in the late 16th Century that dictates the country’s political system, among other matters.[8]
The country's economy mainly relies on finance, industry, services and tourism. It is one of the wealthiest countries in the world in terms of GDP (per capita), with a figure comparable to some of the more developed Italian regions, such as Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. San Marino is considered to have a highly stable economy, with one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe, no national debt and a budget surplus.[1]
