QTH Berkeley, CA: Location in the Berkeley hills on the eastern shores of the San Francisco bay. Picture: Southwest view to the golden gate and shack with Icom 765, Yaesu FL-2100B, antenna matchbox R130 WSU-A (russian surplus) feeds an inverted L wire antenna, iambic key (Kent) and bug (Vibroplex Blue Racer #214142 - 1960).

I was introduced to California by Monty Bancroft - W6NJW (SK), Jim - K6ZH and Bob - (now) W7SWL, who I visited through the ITHE program. Little did I know that it would once become my home.

Former and first holder of this call from 1953 - 2008 was Herbert R. Graves (1914-2005). Originally from Texas, Herb moved to Pine Grove, CA, where he held a previous call W6JMO from 1951-1953. Herb was active on shortwave in CW and SSB from Pine Grove until 2005. Further he served as ARRL VEC. If you have more information about Herb, please let me know.
