8J1VLP is licensed as one of JARL special event stations for QRP Day. VLP stands for Very Low Power. It will be operated in several places of Kantou area, which means JA1(JD1) area, with QRP from 1500Z Apr. 27 to 1500Z June 30, linkage with 8J2VLP, 8J4VLP and 8J6VLP.
To save our resources, please try to call us with low power as much as possible.
The catchphrase is Very Low Power But Big world.
The mode used with 8J1VLP contains CW, SSB, AM, FM (analogue and digital D-STAR), SSTV (analogue and digital), and PSK31, RTTY, and the satellite communication.
It is JARL special commemoration bureau established so that it may widely know "QRP day" based on the resolution provided, "June 17 every year is made QRP day" in the third regional general meeting of international amateur radio union (IARU) in 1985, and the effectiveness of the QRP communication may appeal.
Special commemoration bureau 8J1VLP(Very Low Power) of the 1st QRP day was changed in 1997 and because the suffix of the commemoration bureau had been admitted within the range of 1 to 5 character in opening a T.V. station and fiscal year 2006, the call sign was changed to 8J1P. VLP decided to change for foreign countries in the communication with the amateur station in all parts of the world than suffix P and to change to former call sign high by the recognition level on the QRP day though a short call sign was able to take a full effect to the operation of CW.
Thank you.
