Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my page at QRZ.com.
My name is Alberto, and my home call is EA4PL. I've recently moved to PNG and I plan to stay here for some time if everything goes fine.
Getting radio equipment in PNG is not possible, and importing it is incredibly expensive. Right now I have a small TS50 transceiver + ATU and some wire to build my own antennas. I have now a small dipole antenna for 15 meters, and another one for 20 meters, which work quite well and are enough to reach all continents with a readable signal. By the way, if my signal gets suddenly off the band, please I'm sorry, we have a lot of black outs in this country, and electricity supply is not guaranteed. On the other hand, my transceiver is very simple, with no filters, IF shift, tone, audio processing or anything similar, so it's not easy for me to handle pile-ups. Please be patient.
I work 95% SSB and HF. The remaining 5% can be PSK31 and some CW. I like homebrewing my own equipment and experimenting new modes, although I think this is going to be quite hard in this country.
I live in a beautiful spot in Port Moresby facing the bay and Ela Beach. It's not the best position to work Europe, although I'll do my best to work as many countries and continents as possible without distinction.
My QSL manager is EA7FTR. He has kindly agreed to be my manager, and I've selected him because he has always answered every card I sent him in the past, even through the bureau. I consider him a very good, fast and efficient QSL manager. Please, don't send me any direct QSLs to PNG, since post is not very reliable here, and on the other hand, it's one of the most expensive in the world. See EA7FTR website for QSLing policies. Don't send any QSL to my home call either; I won't be able to answer.
I'll try to keep this page updated as soon as I get news to share. I've recently moved to PNG, so I'm not very active on the radio these days.

This is my 3 elements half wave vertical yagi, cut for the 20 meters , facing Asia

My Colombian home is located in a rural area,close to Juan de Acosta city, a small village of about 15000 peoples , located in the Northen Colombia, my antennas are on the top of the hill 3 miles south of the Atlantic Ocean , my house still under construccion yet, so far I have a G5RVcut for 40 meters abouth 204 feets or 62 meters feed with open line and also a 3 element half wave vertical yagui for 20 meter, and a very near future I will erect a 1/4 wave vertical for 80 meters and an inverted L for 160 meters . I do a lot of listening every morning just before my sunrise in the lower bands around 09.00 to 11.30 GMT. Iam a retired person and been a Ham radio operator since 1960, I love this unique and fantastic hobby . At the present time I getting qsls cards at my Florida ( usa ) home, but it takes few months before answer the mail, I prefer LoTw, Fast, secure and no money involved. A group of UK DXers will operate from the island of Raivavae in the Australs (IOTA OC-114) from 20 March to 1 April 2014, all bands CW, SSB and RTTY.
