I primarily use an Icom 781, with an Alpha 78, an Icom 765, with an Icom 2KL, or an Orion II, with an Alpha 78. The antennas are either an 8 element Log Periodic or a 700 foot horizontal loop.

Don, VE7DS and Dave, K3EL are planning a mini-dxpedition to Raivavae, (FO/A, Austral Islands, IOTA OC-114) from 30 October to 6 November 2013. We will be running two medium-power stations with vertical antennas on the beach. The Austral Islands are currently 44th on the Club Log “most wanted” list, very high for a fly-in destination, with a particularly low percentage of Club Log users having contacts on 10 or 12 m. Callsign will be TX5RV. For more information, go tohttp://k3el.wordpress.com/dx/raivavae-austral-islands/
Tim, M0URX, will handle all aspects of QSLing for TX5RV. Logs will be uploaded to LOTW quickly after our return. OQRS will be available for direct and bureau card requests, and direct requests can also be sent by snail-mail.Full information on QSLing via M0URX is available at Tim’s website:http://www.m0urx.com/
Internet connectivity is expected to be limited on Raivavae, and due to the short duration of our stay we prefer to spend our time on-the-air rather than uploading logs. If we can, we will upload occasionally to ClubLog - see search below - otherwise we will upload as soon as possible after our return.

QRV as DV5PO from a small village near Borongan in Eastern Samar since August 2008, previously operating from same QTH as DU5/ZL4PO. Population of the village is about 500, and I am the only westerner living in the village. Our home is right on the shoreline, only 40 metres from hightide overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean and inshore reefs. Antennas are TH6DXX tribander up 17M, plus dipoles for 80, 40 & 30M.
New homebrew 5ele 6M widespaced yagi going up very shortly. My preferred modes are CW with some SSB, in the bands from 80M to 6M. QRV most days looking for DX. I am operational on PSK31 & RTTY occasionally,  40M thru 10M as band conditions dictate. I also operate SSTV in Scottie1/2/DX modes on 14230KHz.
Please QSL to EA5GL with $2U.S. OR 1 CURRENT IRC and reply envelope.
No eQSL's please.
As far as I am aware, DV5PO is the only licenced amateur station operating from anywhere on Samar or Eastern Samar on HF. There are a few other DU5's on HF, but they are operating from Tacloban on the island of Leyte, about 4 hours by road from here.
My other interests include wine making, stamp collecting, photography.    We have a seaside cottage available for visiting hams who want to operate from DU5 for a while.     Email me if you are interested or would like to QSO (SKED)   lesterzl4po@yahoo.com

Welcome to my QRZ.COM

A two big typhoons approaches Japan now.

Therefore a ship Ogasawara Maru cannot sail from the port.
I change a schedule.

I will go to Ogasawara in 28 Oct. ~ 3 Nov. 2013.

New Call :JD1BOI QSL via JI1LET DIRECT ONLY.

Ogasawara Islands was named as a World Natural Heritage site by the UNESCO in 2011. It is an oceanic island which has never belonged to the continent. The plants and animals of the island have therefore enjoyed an evolution unique to the island's environment.
The Ogasawara Maru is a 6700-ton, 131-meter (430-foot) cargo-and-passenger ship sailing between Tokyo and Chichijima ("Father Island") in the Ogasawara archipelago, a journey of about 1000 kilometers (621 miles). Because the trip is over open water, the ship may indeed sway a bit from time to time. But be assured that the ship was designed specifically for this route; it is driven by two high-output engines and is equipped with a fin stabilizer that greatly reduces rolling (side-to-side sway).
Travel time for the approximately 1000-kilometer (621-mile) journey is about 25½ hours. The trip may take longer, however, if ocean conditions are poor.
