The correct mailing address:
Bruce R. Salt
PO Box 5

St. Helena Island

STHL 1ZZ.

My equipment: Rig: FT-920
Antenna: Force 12 C-4E,

I QSL 100%. 2 Green Stamps (or Euro notes/ Sterling BUT NOT Euro coins) and a self addressed envelope will be greatly appreciated to defray mailing costs.
PLEASE DO NOT put St. Helena stamps or stamps from the country in which you are mailing on your SAE.

NO eQSL or LoTW.

For fantastic Custom QSL cards have a look at www.printed.it As used by ZD7VC and many other ZD7 Stations as well as DX stations (and noteably Big Dx-peditions) right around the world. If YOU want fantastic looking QSL cards that other Ham Operators would love to have gracing their shacks then you'll need to contact Alfio - IT9EJW and send him the pictures that you want on your card and let him design you a FANTASTIC QSL CARD - Guaranteed you won't be disappointed!!!!
Don't just take my word for it though - see what the reviews on www.eham.net have to say!! Look for IT9EJW QSL's.
If you've also been the recipient of Alfio's beautiful artwork perhaps you too might like to post a review onwww.eham.net - thanks.
Islands on the Air (IOTA) - could all stations who live on Islands please consider putting your IOTA reference number on your QSL cards.
To those of us who wish to collect IOTA numbers for awards or otherwise it'sfrustrating to find that this tiny bit of very important information is missing from the QSL card.
On the 16 January 2011 I worked KA5N who said that he'd never worked St. Helena Island (ZD7) in all of his 56 years of hamming. On the 3rd June 2012 I had the good fortune of having a 10 meter contact with I6TJD - Francesco who it turned out was 83 years old and had been hamming for 65 years and this was his first contact with St. Helena Island (ZD7).
I would be very interested to hear from Ham Operators who either have Solar installations to run their shack equipment or live off the grid or who work in the solar industry. I am in the process of accumulating equipment for an off grid solar installation. This Island is very remote and knowldge of the correct pieces of equipment needed is non existent except for what I can glean from the internet. I already have four 250w HIT Sanyo Solar panels with MC3 connectors. I need advice on the correct MPPT charge controller possibly one that won't cause RFI (if they do?).
Description:
Vmpp: 34.9V
Voc: 43.1V
impp 7.18A
I live on the Northern side of the Island on a sloping rock platau 3/4 of a mile inland and 1,011' ASL and have the sunniest location of the Island. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small.

Thank you

Saint Barthélemy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saint Barthélemy (FrenchSaint-BarthélemyFrench pronunciation: [sɛ̃baʁtelemi]), officially theTerritorial collectivity of Saint Barthélemy (FrenchCollectivité territoriale de Saint-Barthélemy), is an overseas collectivity of France.[3] Often abbreviated to Saint-Barth in French, or St. Barts or St. Barths in English, the indigenous people called the islandOuanalao.[4] St. Barts lies about 35 km (21.75 mi) southeast of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, and north of St. KittsPuerto Rico is 240 km (149.1 mi) to its west in the Lesser Antilles.[5]
The collectivity is one of four territories among the Leeward Islands in the northeasternCaribbean that comprise the French West Indies, along with Saint MartinGuadeloupe(200 km southeast) and Martinique. Saint Barthélemy was for many years a French commune forming part of Guadeloupe, which is an overseas région and département of France and is therefore in the European Union.
Saint Barthélemy, a volcanic island fully encircled by shallow reefs, has an area of 22.1 km² (8.5 mi²) and a population of 8,902 (Jan. 2009 census).[2] Its capital is Gustavia, which also contains the main harbour to the island. It is the only Caribbean island which was a Swedish colony for any significant length of time; Guadeloupe was under Swedish rule only briefly, at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Symbolism from the Swedish national arms, the Three Crowns, still appears in the island's coat of arms. The language, cuisine and culture, however, are distinctly French. The island is a popular tourist destination during the winter holiday season, especially the rich and famous during the Christmas and New Year period.

My son Erik & I will be active from FJ - Saint Barthelemy as FJ/K5WE and FJ/N5WR beginning 3Jun13. Operation will be all bands, mostly CW, maybe some RTTY and SSB. We will check 6 meters for openings using a small yagi, but our emphasis will be CW on the HF bands. QSL to home callsigns. Local QTH is Colombier, Grid Square is FK87.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I operated from KP2, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, as KP2/K5WE from 18Sept12 until 26Sep12. Logged 9,326 QSOs. One day was spent on RTTY (675 QSOs), all the rest on CW. Thanks for the QSOs. QSL via home call. All KP2/K5WE QSOs uploaded to LOTW on 27Jan13.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erik & I operated from Bonaire as PJ4/K5WE and PJ4/N5WR from 3Jul2011 to 11Jul2011. QSL via home calls.
