The Virgin Islands of the United States (commonly called the United States Virgin IslandsU.S. Virgin Islands orUSVI) are a group of islands in the Caribbean that are an insular area of the United States. The islands are geographically part of the Virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles.
The U.S. Virgin Islands consist of the main islands of Saint CroixSaint John, and Saint Thomas, along with the much smaller but historically distinct Water Island, and many other surrounding minor islands. The total land area of the territory is 133.73 square miles (346.4 km2).[1]
As of the 2010 census the population was 106,405,[3] mostly composed by those of Afro-Caribbean descent. Tourism is the primary economic activity, although there is a significant rum manufacturing sector.[1]
Formerly the Danish West Indies, they were sold to the United States by Denmark in the Treaty of the Danish West Indies of 1916. They are classified by the UN as a Non-Self-Governing Territory, and are currently an organized, unincorporated United States territory. The U.S. Virgin Islands are organized under the Revised Organic Act of 1954, and have since held five constitutional conventions. The last and only proposed Constitution adopted by the Fifth Constitutional Convention in 2009 was rejected by the U.S. Congress in 2010, which urged the convention to reconvene to address the concerns Congress and the Obama administration have had with the proposed document. The convention reconvened in October 2012 to address these concerns, but was unable to produce a revised Constitution before its October 31 deadline.

Senegal Listeni/ˌsɛnɨˈɡɔːl/ (Frenchle Sénégal), officially the Republic of Senegal (République du SénégalIPA: [ʁepyblik dy seneɡal]), is a country in West Africa. It owes its name to the Sénégal River that borders it to the east and north. Senegal is externally bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania to the north, Mali to the east, and Guinea and Guinea-Bissauto the south; internally it almost completely surrounds The Gambia, namely on the north, east and south, except for Gambia's short Atlantic coastline. Senegal covers a land area of almost 197,000 square kilometres (76,000 sq mi), and has an estimated population of about 13 million. The climate is tropical with two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.
Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, is located at the westernmost tip of the country on the Cap-Vert peninsula. About 500 kilometres (300 mi) off the coast lie the Cape Verde Islands. During the 17th and 18th centuries, numerous trading posts, belonging to various colonial empires, were established along the coast. The town of St. Louis became the capital of French West Africa (Afrique occidentale française, or AOF) before it was moved to Dakar in 1902. Dakar became its capital in 1960 at the time of independence from France. The country is part of the ECOWAS. Integrated with the main bodies of the international community, Senegal is also a member of the African Union (AU) and the Community of Sahel-Saharan States. Since 2 April, 2012, the country's president has been Macky Sall.

Geography

Landscape of Casamance
Senegal is located on the west of the African continent. It lies between latitudes 12° and 17°N, and longitudes 11° and 18°W. it has a short coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.
The Senegalese landscape consists mainly of the rolling sandy plains of the western Sahel which rise to foothills in the southeast. Here is also found Senegal's highest point, an otherwise unnamed feature near Nepen Diakha at 584 m (1,916 ft). The northern border is formed by theSenegal River, other rivers include the Gambia and Casamance Rivers. The capital Dakar lies on the Cap-Vert peninsula, the westernmost point of continental Africa.
The Cape Verde islands lie some 560 kilometres (350 mi) off the Senegalese coast, but Cap Vert ("Cape Green") is a maritime placemark, set at the foot of "Les Mammelles", a 105-metre (344 ft) cliff resting at one end of the Cap-Vert peninsula onto which is settled Senegal's capital Dakar, and 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) south of the "Pointe des Almadies", the western-most point in Africa.

[edit]Climate

The local climate is tropical with well-defined dry and humid seasons that result from northeast winter winds and southwest summer winds. The dry season (December to April) is dominated by hot, dry, harmattan wind.[2] Dakar's annual rainfall of about 600 mm (24 in) occurs between June and October when maximum temperatures average 30 °C (86.0 °F) and minimums 24.2 °C (75.6 °F); December to February maximum temperatures average 25.7 °C (78.3 °F) and minimums 18 °C(64.4 °F).[22] Interior temperatures are higher than along the coast (for example, average daily temperatures in Kaolack and Tambacounda for May are 30 °C (86.0 °F) and 32.7 °C(90.9 °F) respectively, compared to Dakar's 23.2 °C (73.8 °F) ),[23] and rainfall increases substantially farther south, exceeding 1,500 mm (59.1 in) annually in some areas. In the far interior of the country, in the region of Tambacounda, particularly on the border of Mali, temperatures can reach as high as 54 °C (129.2 °F).

I was very tired.
I did spend time in more than 90 minutes.

Vietnam (Listeni/ˌviɪtˈnɑːm/, /viˌɛt-/, /-ˈnæm/, /ˌvjɛt-/[8]), officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Cộng hòa Xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam (About this sound listen)), is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated 87.8 million inhabitants as of 2011, it is the world's 13th-most-populous country, and the eighth-most-populous Asian country. The name Vietnam translates as "South Viet", and was officially adopted in 1945. The country is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodiato the southwest, and the South China Sea to the east.[9] Its capital city has been Hanoi since the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1976.

The Vietnamese became independent from Imperial China in 938 AD, following the Battle of Bạch Đằng River. Successive Vietnamese royal dynasties flourished as the nation expanded geographically and politically into Southeast Asia, until the Indochina Peninsula was colonized by the French in the mid-19th century. The First Indochina War eventually led to the expulsion of the French in 1954, leaving Vietnam divided politically into two states, North and South Vietnam. Conflict between the two sides intensified, with heavy foreign intervention, during the Vietnam War, which ended with a North Vietnamese victory in 1975.
Vietnam was then unified under a Communist government, but was politically isolated and impoverished. In 1986, the government initiated a series of economic and political reforms, which began Vietnam's path towards integration into the world economy.[10] By 2000, it had established diplomatic relations with most nations. Its economic growth has been among the highest in the world since 2000,[10] and according to Citigroup, such high growth is set to continue. Vietnam has the highest Global Growth Generators Indexamong 11 major economies,[11] and its successful economic reforms resulted in it joining the World Trade Organization in 2007. However, the country still suffers from relatively high levels of income inequality, disparities in healthcare provision, and poor gender equality.[12][13][14][15][16]

Mail from 8Q7EJ (G3VDB Jim)..20121105 14024kHz 8Q7EJ

G3VDB Jim EVANS( Jim G3VDB operating on 28MHz.)

First licensed in March 1966 as GI3VDB. Equipment consisted of a Bendix RA1B receiver ex Catalina flying boat (!) and various ex military and home brew tx's for CW, some of which I modified to do FSK rtty. I believe I was the first GI to get BARTG QCA Award with 25 countries confirmed on RTTY.

I was QRT from around 1970 to November 2007, apart from a short period on 2m repeaters while mobile in 1990's.
Active on hf bands mostly CW, PSK31 and rtty with FT1000 Mk V Field, Icom IC-7000, all 100W max to wire antennas for 80, 40, 20m limited by suburban garden. I occasionally put up an R7 but it requires planning permission. I have an awkward neighbour who knows this, and objects, even though the antenna is not directly in her sight line.
I use Ham Radio Deluxe for rig control and logging and DM780 for data modes.
I dabble in contests on those modes to give a few points away and occasionally try to be heard in a CW pile up. I use Win-Test 4 for contest working and logging.
My preferred "QSL" method is now LOTW where I upload all logs. QSO's in eQSL are confirmed within a few days. I have no paper cards at present but am a member of the [RSGB] bureau and you will get a paper card eventually for any received.
Memberships:- RSGB, CDXC, 30MDG, EPC, Tall Trees Contest Group.
In October 2009, I operated as 8Q7EJ Maldives which was a lot of fun. I hope to repeat that experience regularly as my wife is a Scuba Diver and Maldives is a wonderful place to dive and to operate radio.
In October 2010, I tried 8Q7EJ again from a different island. As recorded at my 8Q7EJ entry, the excellent experience of 2009 was not repeated. With the same Ground Plane antenna further from the sea and on the south side of the island, I called CQ endlessly without being heard; calling other stations produced a few QSOs but all were difficult. Location is everything.
And in early November 2011, I was back on the first island, Vilamendhoo. This time I told the hotel what I had in mind and asked for a room even nearer the sea. The 14MHz G/P was against a tree about 1m from the sea "wall". I was very lucky with sun-spots too; for the last four days of the holiday I was working the Americas, north and south, with 100W, long path at my dawn on both CW and surprisingly SSB. Hopefully back this year with good propagation and complete WAS and DXCC rom 8Q7EJ.
I look forward to working you, whereever you are and I am!.
Enjoy our unique hobby.
73's, Jim

Mako San,
I found your recording of my 8Q7EJ operation on Soundcloud.
I thought you might like the other side of the recording. You are in the middle of the extract. Many loud signals at that time of my afternoon.

Chile (Listeni/ˈɪl/[10] or /ˈtʃɪleɪ/), officially the Republic of Chile (SpanishRepública de Chile[reˈpuβlika ðe ˈtʃile] ( listen),MapudungunGulumapu), is a country in South America occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south. Chilean territory includes the Pacific islands of Juan FernándezSalas y GómezDesventuradas and Easter Island. Chile also claims about 1,250,000 square kilometres (480,000 sq mi) of Antarctica, although all claims are suspended under theAntarctic Treaty.
Chile's distinctive shape—4,300 kilometres (2,700 mi) long and on average 175 kilometres (109 mi) wide—makes it the longest country in the world in terms of length-to-width ratio, with the fifth lengthiest coastline at over 78,000 kilometres (48,000 mi).[11] The northern desert contains great mineral wealth, principally copper. The relatively small central area dominates in terms of population and agricultural resources, and is the cultural and political center from which Chile expanded in the late 19th century when it incorporated its northern and southern regions. Southern Chile is rich in forests and grazing lands, and features a string of volcanoes and lakes. The southern coast is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas, and islands.[12]
Prior to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, northern and central Chile was under Inca rule while independent Mapucheinhabited south-central Chile. Chile declared its independence from Spain on 12 February 1818. In the War of the Pacific (1879–83), Chile defeated Peru and Bolivia and won its current northern territory. It was not until the 1880s that the Mapuche were completely subjugated.[13] Chile endured a 16½-year long military dictatorship (1973–1990) that left more than 3,000 people dead or missing.[14]
Today, Chile is one of South America's most stable and prosperous nations,[14] a recognized middle power[15] and an emerging economy.[16] It leads Latin American nations in human developmentcompetitivenessincome per capitaglobalizationeconomic freedom, and low perception of corruption.[17] It also ranks high regionally in sustainability of the statedemocratic development and state of peace. However, it has a high economic inequality, as measured by the Gini index.[18] In May 2010, Chile became the first South American nation to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.[19] Chile is a founding member of theUnited Nations, the Union of South American Nations and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
