I am 40 years of age and a radio amateur for 23 years. I had a strong believe in digital communication and never became a full licence operator because of morse code, until about 13 years ago. My moto was always "Why do I need to be qualified in 1 bit per second data transfer while I can surf the world on 100 megabits". And now, technology has changed so much.
But since then, I have joined the full licence operators because I realized that I must join the hobby and not fight it. 6 years later, morse has been cancelled as a part of a full licence, but I am proud to have the 12 words a minute behind my name.
My Current Rig. Icom IC-7600                 Dentron MLA-2500B running about 1KW

I don't have a shack like most Hams. I am squashed in the corner of the Living Room.

The BOSS!!! TET-5. TET-Emtron HB35T. Discontinued in 1982

As I am not connected to the grid, because I live in a very rural area, I have to rely on my Solar,
Wind Turbine, Batteries and Genereater.
3KW Wind Turbine

13kw Solar Array. Generating between 80 and 100 kw/h per day. 110V to Controllers.

Controllers and Inverters. Still a mess but I am working on it. Total current at mid day is about 300A at 48V Running 70 and 100 sq.mm cables on 48V side

Solar Controllers. Each producing about 130A    Bridgable Inverters producing 10KW

3KW Wind Turbine Controller.            3000AH Battery Backup System at 48V

25KVA 3 Phase Silent Box Back up Generator.

My Pets. A Meerkat called Pokkels and a Kinkajou called Rocky.

A Nice Sunrise picture from my Hide away in Ponta d' Ouro

Dinner at Beach Bar. 50 Meters from the sea on the beach in Ponta d' Ouro.

What I do for a Living. Aqua Culture and Aqua Ponics.

The Farm House and Surroundings

Ok.............This is me getting wasted at Beack Bar!!!

Enjoying the Mozambique untouched playground!!!!! This is my little toy.

Hi fellow radio hams! Just a short paragraph about myself. Im 50yrs old (born May 1964), I am licenced since 1989 when I passed the radio theory exam and was issued my present class'A' callsign in 1990 after passing the morse code test (12 wpm). I am also the holder of an M.F Maritime radio licence issued in 1998. I monitor locally 145.450mhz and 433.450mhz (both on FM) and also the local voice repeaters (mostly IRLP nodes 5883 and 5355). On HF I normally operate on 28.450mhz and 24.963mhz. . I am a member of the Tipperary Amatuer Radio Group (T.A.R.G), (for more club information visit www.ei7trg.ie ) and I regularly contribute to a local net with club members on 2 metres and 4 metres (70.2625mhz and 70.375mhz) FM. When not in the shack or near a radio, I operate on Echolink (Node 817975).
My radio station photograph which is attached consists of the following:- (1) HF:- Kenwood TS480HX, Yaesu FT707, FC707 atu, FP707 psu, FV707 external vfo,Yaesu FC107 atu,Turner Plus 3B mic and a HK707 straight morse code key. (2 )VHF 145mhz:- Kenwood TM241E and a Yaesu FT221R with a YM33 mic.(3 )4M-70mhz:- Philips PRM80 and Motorola MC Micro. (4) UHF-433mhz:-Yaesu FT8100R. Also in the shack picture are two marine VHF radios, to monitor marine channels CH16 and CH67 respectively. If you require a QSL please send directly and include a SAE with appropiate cost of postage. l also reply to all QSLs sent via bureau (NO eQSLs).
While ham radio is my main hobby, I really enjoy watching most of the competitive sports. Gaelic Hurling and Gaelic Football as well as Soccer are among my favourites. When not on the radio I really enjoy following the teams I have supported since childhood.

So thats it for now ,thank you for reading this, take care...73s.
De EI2HI Op Hugh.
