NEW 2012 again QRV: 26. October to 17. December 2012

2011 Operation from Dominica-Island NA-101:

J79WTA is back again on the island from 4. November to the 8. December. I’m working from the same place, the very ham friendly location near Salisbury “The Tamarind Tree Hotel”. It is a holiday style operation.

Rig is ICOM IC-7000, ACOM 1000, AT-1000Pro, multiband dipole 30m – 160m, Spider beam 20, 17, 15, 12, 10m and a not resonant dipole. I’m working in SSB, RTTY, PSK and if possible in SSTV.

2010 Operation from Dominica-Island NA-101:

We stay between 12. November to 11. December 2010 for holiday on Dominica-Island.

We are working from the Tamarind Tree Hotel, a very ham friendly location near Salisbury. Station is a ICOM IC-7000 with 100 watts in a dipole 50m above the sea level. We are working mainly in SSB and sometimes in RTTY on all HF-Bands.

QSL:

All QSL received at the end of September 2012, I had answered (bureau-QSL via GlobalQSL, direct via direct).

QSL is ok via bureau or direct to my home cal, no eQsl. It’s important to send the QSL via HB9MFM, HB9 bureau. If not, I never receive your QSL and you will lose the confirmation.

If you send direct, please include 2$ for return postage and SAE, otherwise I send via bureau.

Unfortunately, Paraguayan post office now charges $3.49 for one QSL mailed to the USA and more for Europe and Asia. Best to use LoTW as ZP6CW uploads almost daily. Same for eQSL. Also 2 IRCs are required though the IRC itself says only 1. The low value of the Dollar is at fault.  I will gladly send direct QSLs if sufficient funds are enclosed.

For INSTANT PAPER QSLS I can now accept PayPal request: Use caacupe@gmail.com for PayPal payment.

You can send funds via PayPal remembering PaPal deducts 10% for it's service. IE, a PayPal payment of $4.00 will show as a deposit of $3.60 to my account. Truly sorry Paraguayan postage is so high (due to Dollar being so low). I can print multiple QSOs on one QSL card. With these high rates, my QSL manager and wife (ZP6CU) is still kept busy. ZP6CW does not use the bureau (again due to high postage costs for the Radio Club of Paraguay).ZP6CU is shown above answering direct requests.

Please allow 30 days for receipt, outgoing mail down here in SA is very, very slow.

XU1A was reactivated and started its operation on 5th December 2012.
The logs up　to 23:39Z of 7th December, 4,191 QSOs have been uploaded to the ClubLog.
One station is participating in the ARRL 10m contest while other members have constructed 160m antenna.
We will see how it works this evening, however, we are experiencing occasional power outage and have to switch to generator.

Cambodia (ⁱ/kæmˈboʊdiə/;^[5] Khmer: ព្រះរាជាណាចក្រកម្ពុជា, Kampuchea, IPA: [kɑmˈpuˈciə]), officially known as theKingdom of Cambodia, is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Its total landmass is 181,035 square kilometres (69,898 sq mi), bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laosto the northeast, Vietnam to the east and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.

With a population of over 14.8 million, Cambodia is the 68th most populous country in the world. The official religion is Theravada Buddhism, which is practiced by approximately 95% of the Cambodian population. The country's minority groups include Vietnamese, Chinese, Chams and 30 hill tribes.^[6] The capital and largest city isPhnom Penh, the political, economic, and cultural center of Cambodia. The kingdom is a constitutional monarchywith Norodom Sihamoni, a monarch chosen by the Royal Throne Council, as head of state. The head of government is Hun Sen, who is currently the longest serving leader in South East Asia and has ruled Cambodia for over 25 years.

Cambodia's ancient name is "Kambuja" (Sanskrit: कंबुज)^[7]. In 802 AD, Jayavarman II declared himself king marking the beginning of the Khmer Empire which flourished for over 600 years and allowing successive kings to dominate much of Southeast Asia and accumulate immense power and wealth. The Indianized kingdom built monumental temples such as Angkor Wat and facilitated the spread of first Hinduism, then Buddhism to much of Southeast Asia. After the fall of Angkor to Ayutthaya in the 15th century, Cambodia was ruled as a vassal between its neighbors until it was colonized by the French in the mid-19th century. Cambodia gained independence in 1953.

The Vietnam War extended into Cambodia, giving rise to the Khmer Rouge, which took Phnom Penh in 1975. Cambodia reemerged several years later within a socialistic sphere of influence as the People's Republic of Kampuchea until 1993. After years of isolation, the war-ravaged nation was reunited under the monarchy in 1993 and has seen rapid progress in the economic and human resource areas while rebuilding from decades of civil war. Cambodia has had one of the best economic records in Asia, with economic growth averaging 6 percent for the last 10 years. Strong textiles, agriculture, construction, garments, and tourism sectors led to foreign investments and international trade.^[8] In 2005, oil and natural gas deposits were found beneath Cambodia's territorial waters, and once commercial extraction begins in 2013, the oil revenues could profoundly affect Cambodia's economy.^[9]

Jan Mayen Island is a volcanic island in the Arctic Ocean and part of the Kingdom of Norway. It is 55 km (34 mi) long (southwest-northeast) and 373 km² (144 sq mi) in area, partly covered by glaciers (an area of 114.2 km (71.0 mi) around the Beerenberg). It has two parts: larger northeast Nord-Jan and smaller Sør-Jan, linked by anisthmus 2.5 km (1.6 mi) wide. It lies 600 km (370 mi) northeast of Iceland, 500 km (310 mi) east of central Greenlandand 1,000 km (620 mi) west of the North Cape, Norway. The island is mountainous, the highest summit being theBeerenberg volcano in the north. The isthmus is the location of the two largest lakes of the island, Sørlaguna (South Lagoon), and Nordlaguna (North Lagoon). A third lake is called Ullerenglaguna (Ullereng Lagoon). Jan Mayen was formed by the Jan Mayen hotspot.

Jan Mayen consists of two geographically distinct parts. Nord-Jan has a round shape and is dominated by the 2,277 m (7,470 ft) high Beerenberg volcano with its large ice cap (114.2 km² or 44 sq mi), which can be divided into twenty individual outlet glaciers. The largest of those is Sørbreen, with an area of 15 km² (5.8 sq mi) and a length of 8.7 km²(3.36 sq mi). South-Jan is narrow, comparatively flat and unglaciated. Its highest elevation is Rudolftoppen at 769 m (2,523 ft). The station and living quarters are located on South-Jan. The island lies at the northern end of the Jan Mayen Microcontinent. The microcontinent was originally part of the Greenland Plate, but now forms part of theEurasian Plate.
